Temperance:
Description
A winged, angelic figure draped in a white cloak, symbolizing their purity, pours water from one cup to the next, seemingly defying gravity. On their chest, the symbol of fire represents elemental transformation, with one food on the earth, the material world, and the other in water, the subconscious, spiritual world. To the left, a path leads up the mountains where a bright sun rises. On the right, irises represent the Greek goddess of rainbows who relays messages from the Divine.
Temperance:
Upright Meaning
Temperance asks you to employ patience and restraint. The only way to transcend chaos is to tap into your inner stillness. Within these subconscious waters, you will find a connection to the other side. Think of Temperance as the Saint who can transform a room upon entering simply by way of their vibrational frequency, which quiets the active mind to tap into the wisdom and peace that resides in divine light.
To lessen suffering and rise above your current state, Temperance asks you to seek balance. You may meditate, run, clean, or do any number of tasks that allow you to lower the volume of the material world. Through this process, you will tap into a higher consciousness that grants you the wisdom to resolve problems and obstacles.
Temperance:
Reversed Meaning
Temperance reversed signals that you or something in your life has fallen out of balance. Such events can leave you feeling irritable and frustrated with slow progress; however, refrain from forcing any sort of transformation. Such energy invites chaos. If you find yourself arguing, losing patience, or feeling competitive, try to find your center. While you cannot control outside forces, you can control your reaction.
You may have fallen out of alignment with your spiritual practice. Perhaps you have put off your yoga or meditation practices, or have been putting off getting outside and tuning in to nature’s frequency. Follow the example of the figure on the Temperance card and put your barefeet on the earth to ground your energy. Release any negativity or pent-up emotion into the ground and allow its frequency to recharge your spirit.
